Default How do I get into PvP?

Ive been playing GW for quite sometime now. I was wondering what the best way to start PvPing is. Ive never known so I kind of stayed away from PvP. Im looking to start playing PvP now.

i would start by going through the entire tutorial island, then skipping over to random arenas, and hang out their for a while, you will learn a surprisingly lot.

Thanks. Is it a viable option to PvP with PvE characters? All of my slots are taken and I really dont want to delete any.

I highly reccommend against it, you can but you lose a LOT of verstility. Only go if you have at least all skills unlocked for primary profession, rune of superior vigor, max armor, basically max everything. You'll also want Vampiric, Zealous, and Ebon melee weapons and several different staves/wands/shields/offhands/spears for casters depending on your build. For Random Arenas and Fort Aspenwood and such this won't matter much (although it does help), but in higher end PvP this is absolutely necessary. It will cost a lot and take a lot of time, and you still lose a ton of verstility because all that is just to play one build to its full effectiveness. You're much better of buying another slot from the online store.

Depends on whether you want to get into serious HA/GvG PvP, or casual RA/TA/AB/FA PvP. If you really want to get into serious PvP, you need to have some dedication and willpower to learn.

Throw out everything you knew about PvE basically and start learning all the basic concepts that everyone that PvPs does. Ask for help, watch observer, read threads in Glads Arena, everything. Learn the concepts of PvP, why protting is better than healing, how to kite, how to use certain versatile tools, what is important to take down and what isn't, how pieces of builds mesh together, the main builds, attributes, runes, armor, weapon sets, battle lines, splitting, everything.

And above all, gain experience. Even playing around in RA all the time will help you learn skills and about the skills. Learn every common skills animation, purpose, description, duration, combos, and even sounds if you can. Play until you're comfortable with all the skills that you'll need.

And then finally, build connections. Get into PuGvGs in IRC. Play with good players, make friends with them, make groups with them. Invite them to groups that you're forming and hopefully they'll invite you when they need that extra person.

And unless you have basically perfect equipment, I wouldn't suggest PvPing with a PvE character. Also, you'll need one of every character, for you need to be at least minimally competent with every role and position to gain a good understanding of the game. Also, the equipment you need gets ridiculous. I'd say that you'd need multiple armor sets for each character, at least +29 fortitude and 19% enchanting +5e swords/axes/spears (depending on build), FC and FR sets (depending on build), maxed shields with +armor vs every damage type. For melee you'll probably need vamp/sundering, zealous (maybe), and elemental perfect 15>50 or at least 14>50 of every weapon with fortitude, and enchanting for dervs. For rangers you'll need a crippling and poisoning of: +5e recurve, a 15>50 recurve, a vamp 15>50 flatbow, longbow. If you can get that for every class then I would consider not using a PvP at all, otherwise, you're going to need a PvP slot.

i say just start practicing in RA and tweaking your build for pvp.
some tips for RA. bring a res sig (not ressurect or rebirth etc.) keep an eye on your team mates health and get rdy to res anyone thats about to die asap. if opposing team has a healer try to take the healer out first but obviously dont solo charge in and get urself killed.

wot profession do u plan to start pvping with?

i say find and join a guild that is into PvP in the guild recruitment section. Then ask for their advice on how to start. Ask to join them once in awhile. Show them that you are a fast learner and a competent player.
